Stayed in bed till two pm....hold on is taht right? I mean 9 am New York time. Never slept a wink and now the race is on with fourteen others for the only shower room. A deft bushido death roll and I was in there.
Next on Maslows hierarchy of needs from shelter is food I beleive and off to the breadfactory.com where a Mr Dean Bennet kindly let me sit at his table. Dressed like an old fisherman Dean explained he was an actor going for an audition as ...yes an old fisherman. Dean has as it turns out acted for the president as Benjamin Franklin. See http://www.mybenfranklin.com/ for Deans profile. So not having planned even an hour of this trip you can imagine the help from Dean on what to do and how to use the metro was most welcome.
The day went well accompanied by sunshine. Town Hall (film shoot..not me and nope not sure who they were), New York Hot Dog (had to), Twin Towers Site (God rest their souls), Miss Liberty Ferry to see the Lady herself and Ellis Island where I could taste the history and even felt glad to get of the island much like the millions who poured through the registry room over the years. Chess players Grenwich village were waaaaay to good for me to have a go.
So after taking the metro to lower manhattan I thought Id have a go at walking 42 blocks home and wear out my shoes. Caught a show at Broadway. Had to see Pigmaylion after Mrs Mackay forcing it on me back in my school days. Jet lag kicked in and Im sure I snored during the third act. A much needed cofee at the interval ensured a full recovery to see out a good performance by the cast.
