Day 4 New York to Los Angeles

Got up early this morning in the hostel to get ready for the off only to find Peter Peng the hostel owner crashed out on the couch. Boy can that guy work. I can only assume Peter had to give up his room to new arrivals.

Shoot me I went to the Breadfactory..again! Obesity double helping please. Watching the New Yorkers rush by at breakfast there is definately a big dog fraternity going on in this city. Not sure what Rex, Fido or whatever make of living amongst the skyscrapers but is a definate shortage of cats. I digress.

Oops not booked anywhere for LA yet. Airport hotel will do till get my bearings and found a hostel by Venice Beach on the net. Thank goodness for hostels.com. Knew this would be one of those in between days waiting for the airport transfer so took a wander into Macys. Feeling a bit sluggish on the travels so bought an all in one gym. See picture below. What a store and great prices.
Now the heat was on...how to get out to JFK without ending up on the wrong rails. Many at the hostel advocated the seven dollar trip on the metro over Brooklyn and onto the skytrain to reach the airport as much less expensive than bus or taxi. Every step of the way in the metro I applied its a wise man that asks theory and boy was I releived to see the terminal.

Had the airplane to myself...quite literally and the Quantus staff had a definate laissez faire approach to it all. Quite refreshing and so was the couple of glasses of white wine. Note to self...oxygen deprivation in air cabins is not conducive to alcohol (source Meghan Venice Beach).
Getting good at this airport thing (famous last words) and whisked my rucsac of out to the Great Western shuttle bus...wrong one and with my head in my hands at the reception of Great Western Central the kind receptionist Geeta called on their driver to take me to Great Wetsern Airport free gratis. Just as well it was 3am New York time by then and I was ready to sleep where I stood.
Airport days...lost time.
