Christchurch is known as the garden city and currently in the eyes of its rival city Auckland a thieving gypsy. Well Jane explained there is a bit of ill feeling as Christchurch bought over the rights for the equivalent of the Chelsea flower show previously hosted by Auckland and they are a bit upset.
Peter and Jane along with their cherubs Cameron three and Iona two gave me a tour of the Botanic Gardens and Museum before I headed off to the Sunday market and Christchurch's art gallery. Which is as good as San Fransiscos I might add. I also impressed myself by recognising a painter's style from a portrait I'd seen in Auckland's gallery. Why it was none other than Tony Fomison and I thought Jeepers Ewen you might be starting to get this art stuff. I was soon distracted by the comotion of a wee girl putting her flip flops into one of the water exhibits and the security rushing over. Childs mind reads "There is a great place to float my flip flops". Securities mind reads "On no Tarquin paid eighty grand for that. He will have a fit"
In the evening I took to the surf at the nearby beach next to "Beach Road". Tomorrow I take to the air at four am in a baloon. With the aptly named Up, up and away baloon company.......
