Day 71 Gisborne (Three Rivers Fireworks Display)

Off to the cinema today with Sharon and Arran to catch the matinee showing off "The Water Horse" which tells the story of the Loch Ness Monster growing up. A lot of the filming was done in New Zealand which is not surprising as its so like Scotland.

Gisborne celebrates New Years night with a fireworks display at the intersection of the three rivers and the event is not surprisingly called "The Three Rivers Firework Display". Lots of families gather on the banks to marvel at the display and we went for a meal at the riverside resterauant with Sharon and Arran's friends. After a delicious meal and wine we watched the fireworks lying flat on our backs (nothing to do with the wine) which I've now discovered is the best way to watch them.

Then back to a fancy house that one of the company were house sitting and Arran and myself went swimming in the pool. Then (health and safety officers look away now) we had a go on the trampoline. I was stunned by the triple somersaults Arran was producing and just as I began to compliment him he veered off at high speed and landed straight in the bushes dazed and confused. By pure good luck no serious injury occurred but I was as a result of the trampoline activity.....and I'm ashamed to admit it not feeling very well when went to bed . As I drifted into an uncomfortable sleep my thoughts were "This is a hot Country and this is not going to be good"
