(Skippy again ...daytime pic used)
At three in the morning I awoke to the sound of "crunch, crunch, monch, monch...." and with pounding heart slowly peered out of the tent (after checking for spiders) and why here was "Skippy" again having a right old feast on the well preened grass surrounding our campsite. I almost shouted over to Melvs tent to come and see our resident kangaroo but thought better of it. After all Melv had only just been defecated on by parrots yesterday so why on earth would he want to be wakened in the middle of the night to see a kangaroo.
After a fine breakfast of porridge and banana on Melvs new stove we packed our rucksacks to head over the hills from Tidal Bay to Sealers Cove on the legendary 20K bush trek.
The trek started out easy enough. Here you see Melv wondering what all the fuss is about.
Here you see Ewen ...Five K in starting to see what all the fuss is indeed about...bush adventures anyone?
Melv tries reading the position of the sun through the bush canopy and at this point I wonder are we in the next series of "Lost"
Finally a bit of rock scaling and hurray we reach "Sealers Cove"..
Not a soul to be seen at Sealers cove nor a seal come to think of it. There were millions of little sand crabs appearing out of the sand to say hi though.
On the return leg of the trek an australian black snake shot past and to this day I'm greatful to Melv for spotting it. We are evens in terms of brave stories (I dragged him out of a peat bog when we were bairns).
Finally we reached the end of the trail and after mountain biking to the top of the hill in the morning we now faced an easy freewheel back to our tents. Careful to pay attention to the road signs.
Melv the master chef cooks up a hearty pasta and over a few beers we start to laugh in the face of snakes...wait a minute what was that rustle...phew its only Wayne again!
