Day 162 Tawau (Landing Postponed Due to Monsoon)

Caught the midday flight from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau as I headed for the Sipidan islands (arguably the best dive site in the world) to begin my advanced divers course. As we approached Tawau our captain announced we would not be able to land and I thought the wee rascal "you will not get me that easiy with an april fools joke". Sure enough though as I looked out the window to see a monsoon black out the sky.

We circled for three quarters of an hour before it was safe to land and everyone gave a sigh of releif and changed their pants. I was met at the airport by my incredibly friendly dive master Chok who told me he had the very place for me to stay tonight. The harbour village of Semporna before we head out to Mabul island tomorow. As we saw the harbour I thought it must be one of the village water huts......nope not so said Chok...."you stay in the dive office tonight". It has to be said the dive office turned out just fine and value for money at ten ringet (just over a pound).

I popped along to a nearby reseraunt for wet seafood noodles and nearly wet myself afterwards on discovering my cameras memory card had a trojan. Thankfully the very nice lady at the internet centre kicked the trojans ass. Off to kip in the dive office with dreams of sharks, turtles, rays, barracuda and monitor lizards to look forward too....hold on monitor lizards ?.......
