Day 50 Taupo (Mountain Biking Hucca Falls)

Abseiled out of the top bunk this morningand set off in ernest to hire a mountain bike. Avanti cycles duly oblidged and without the luxury of the van I had in the USA meant a longcycloe to reach the trails. Not to worry though as Hucca Falls was on the way where a fearfull amount of water roars through a narrow channel. Many a human observes the event and any water sports on this section are outlawed but this seemingly does not stop the odd crazy. A number of deaths have arisen like the body border trapped under a rock for days before the Hucca spat him out.

Biked past the falls and into the maze of trails. I decided to do the route termed "Coaster" and a local lad kindly showed me the way as its in forest where every tree looks the same. The main problem hiring the bike is you have to get it back in time. Careful to assess the point of no return (half three) I had to motor home.

There was a good bunch of folks in the dorm and we all swapped stories. Memorable was one lad who had stayed on a farm and seen a sheep slaughtered. He was keen to share the pictures. Funnily enough we all said goodnight and off with the light !
