Day 3 New York

Whats the protocol for waking up five other people in your dorm because your bursting for the toilet? Answers on a postcard plaese. After holding it back from seven till nine am I had to go!

Took a stance with the soapbag. No prisoners when it comes to rucsac weight and non essentials ditched.

Off out for breakfast...hold the phone whats going on its raining. Hey not part of the plan. You guessed it bagels and coffee again at my fiends the breadfactory. Taste the cinnamon.

Headed uptown manahattan today and first stop was top of the rock. Sixty seven floorsto the roof of the Rockefeller building in thirty seconds with a glass ceiling lift. New pants please. Great views of the empire states building and central park. No matter how many times I looked over the edge I could not get a scale on how tallthey are.

Off up fifth avenue past all the posh shops. Yes I've spelt that right and to Strawberry Fields in Central Park to see the John Lennon memorial and his apartment where he was shot. A tourist from Manchester told me John was her favourite beatle and admired how he stood up for the causes of the day. Central Park also has some mad squiirrels and I did not trust them. It also has a place called sheep meadow where the sheep were thrown off in 1930 to creat a quiet space for the people of New York. It was quiet allright there was no-one there! Get the sheep back ...at least they would use it.

Had to buy Garret popcorn on the way back and their famous big mix (buttered pocorn and cheesecorn combo). I looked good with a circle of yellow food dye round my face as I walked home feeling suitably sick...nice. Apparently most of America is familiar with the food dye but nobody reall knows whats in it.

Hung out in the hostel for the evening.

Hi Ewan,

Hoorah! You're off!
Glad to hear all about New York. I'm hooked on the blog already! The photos are great too. If I never get back to the US, I guess I can live it through your trip!
How was Vegas? Hope you haven't run out of money yet?!
